For better or worse, the San Francisco 49ers have made changes to their depth chart for the 2024 season. This summer, six Red & Gold players left for new opportunities, leaving vacancies that general manager John Lynch and others will need to fill. In some ways, SF has been successful in achieving this. They will, however, need to replace a few rather significant members on defensive line coach Kris Kocurek’s rotation if they are to make another Super Bowl run next winter.

The 49ers tried to renegotiate the contract with the native of Sacramento this summer because to salary cap restrictions. The athlete said that talks broke down since the team only extended a one-year contract to him. SF eventually released Armstead, taking on a significant amount of dead money for the time being, wanting to see if he could test his worth on the market. The 49ers will save $14.8 million in 2025 and $17.8 million after June 1st, 2024, thanks to this change.
