Jerry Jeudy, a wide receiver, was acquired by the Cleveland Browns in March and signed a three-year, $52.5 million contract extension. Jeudy, though, wasn’t intended to take the place of another former Alabama wide receiver.

Amari Cooper’s contract is about to expire, and Browns general manager Andrew Berry stated that the team intends to keep him around past the 2024 season.

Berry stated that Cooper is a receiver worthy of a Pro Bowl. He has performed admirably for us over the last two years. He has a commanding presence in the changing area. Players like that are ones you want to make sure you can keep for as long as possible because we adore him. We will address all of it when the time is right.

In 2023, Cooper caught 72 passes for 1,250 yards and five touchdowns, setting a career high. Cooper was invited to his sixth Pro Bowl after recording his seventh season of 1,000 yards.

The Cleveland Browns acquired Cooper and a sixth-round pick in exchange for the Dallas Cowboys’ fifth- and sixth-round draft selections in 2022.

After 68 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns in 2021, Cooper was two seasons into a five-year, $100 million contract that had grown too wealthy for the Cowboys’ tastes. Only a few days before Cooper’s $20 million salary for the 2022 season was set to lock in, Dallas traded him.
