It has been confirmed that Ruud van would be stepping down as the coach of PSV Eindhoven effective immediately.

The former Manchester United striker will resign from his position as PSV manager after discussions with the club’s management on Tuesday night.

The club reports that negotiations came to an end with both sides agreeing to postpone further conversations until after Sunday’s match against AZ Alkmaar.

But the Dutch great told the team on Wednesday morning that he would not be staying in his position and would be leaving immediately. With a victory over AZ Alkmaar on Sunday, the team hopes to finish in second place.

Van had a great tenure in the dugout, winning both the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Super Cup in a single season.

Having taken over the Rood-Witten at the beginning of the season, the club thanked him for his service in a statement released on Wednesday.

“PSV regrets Van decision and is grateful to him for winning the TOTO KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruyff Scale this season. We hope to finish the football season in second place.” the statement said.

Bayern Munich prepared for their Champions League matchup with Arsenal in the somewhat grand setting of a ballroom covered in chandeliers.

The German champions were obviously in no mood to endure the windy and rainy conditions on Tuesday night when they played the first leg of their quarterfinal at the Emirates Stadium in London.

Rather, a video that they shared on social media showed Harry Kane and company being pushed to their limits at the five-star Landmark Hotel’s Marble Ballroom.
