At Monte-Carlo, Novak Djokovic is two wins away from capturing every title thrice, breaking yet another Rafael Nadal record.

Novak Djokovic defeated Alex De Minaur 7-5, 6-4 to go to the Monte-Carlo Masters semifinals and set a new record in ATP Masters 1000 competitions. Rafael Nadal has 76 semifinal appearances, but this is the Serbian’s 77th in this category of tournaments.

Since the creation of the ATP Masters 1000 division in 1990, Nole has had the greatest amount of success among players in that division. With forty Masters 1000 victories, the world No. 1 leads all players, followed by Rafael Nadal with thirty-six. With 58 finals appearances, he also owns the record, with Nadal coming in second with 53.

After defeating Alex De Minaur once more, he advances to the semifinals with a total of 77, surpassing Rafael Nadal’s 76. With his most recent victory over the Australian, Djokovic now has the greatest winning percentage in the history of Masters 1000 competitions, at 82.24% (403-87). Nadal is next with 82.17% (406-88).
Djokovic broke the previous record set by Nicola Pietrangeli, who reached the semifinals in 1969 at the age of 35, to become the oldest player to advance to the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters in the Open Era aged 36.
