€77m-rated Barcelona loanee not too keen to return to the club

Sergino Dest has been one of the most exciting FC Barcelona players currently playing away from the club on a loan. Having joined the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven last summer after returning to the club from an uneventful loan stint in Italy with AC Milan, the USA international is once again playing at his best level.

Dest has been an integral part of Peter Bosz’s PSV team that is leading the Eredivisie table, and is only a few days away from winning the title. He was a part of the team that came out 6-0 winners against Vitesse.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the defender spoke to the media after the match, and gave some interesting insights on his future plans:

“PSV is happy with me, and I’m enjoying my time here. My future? Time will tell… Barcelona? No, I want to develop. My future, wherever I am, is to play and develop

Real Madrid Is Concerned About Jude Bellingham, SPORT Reports

These comments clearly show that the fullback is not too keen to return to Barcelona, and PSV have already publicly shown the desire to retain the defender in their squad beyond his current loan.

The Dutch club has an option to get him for €17 million at the end of the season, but reports from the Netherlands indicate that the club will be looking to get this price reduced to some extent.

Barcelona will have the right to get a percentage of any transfer fee paid for him in the future if PSV exercises this option. However, it is clear that Eindhoven will have to make a significant economic sacrifice to get a player of Dest’s profile, who has been performing at his best this season.

He still has a year remaining on his Barcelona contract, and has a release clause of €48 million. Thus, FC Barcelona can remain confident that they can get a significant amount for this out-of-favour defender this summer.
