Antony has blown hot and cold since joining Manchester United from Ajax in a big-money deal in August 2022. The Red Devils have also been inconsistent with their general performances in the last 18 months. However, the Brazilian international has not lived up to the billing, especially in the ongoing campaign

The 24-year-old took an eternity to get off the mark in the 2023/24 season and has managed only two goals and two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions. No longer the first-choice right-winger, the player has fallen behind Alejandro Garnacho in the pecking order, with the Argentine international becoming the preferred candidate for the flank.

Antony’s struggles have compelled Manchester United to consider parting ways with him in the summer transfer window. His wages are also an issue for the Premier League heavyweights since they pay him £6 million per season. The latest update has shed some more light on the situation.

Rudy Galetti has claimed that Manchester United will demand an “acceptable” sum to part ways with Antony and get rid of his £6 million-a-year wages. However, the former Ajax attacker’s blow-hot-blow-cold displays and high salary might be a hindrance for prospective suitors.

Recent reports have also discussed Manchester United’s desire to offer him around to clubs. However, a move hinges on Antony’s openness to pocket wages less than £6 million per season. Otherwise, hardly any club might bear his potentially excessive salary.

The Italian journalist has not revealed the valuation of Manchester United’s transfer fee demands. So, it will be interesting to see what an “acceptable” sum is for the Premier League heavyweights. For now, the 24-year-old Brazilian international faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford.
