Two-Time All-Star ‘Solution’ for the Giants of San Francisco Having Trouble with the Law
A former two-time All-Star is thought to join the San Francisco Giants to address their middle infield problems.
Early in the season, the San Francisco Giants’ offensive difficulties from middle infielders have been a problem. In his four at-bats, Tyler Fitzgerald, who started at shortstop on Sunday, collected two hits.
Fitzgerald, who is 26 years old, has averaged a respectable.273/.319/.545 in 44 big league at-bats over his career. Giving an untested youngster every at-bat in a game is probably not the answer, though, as the Giants are in a position to win now that they made the changes they did in the offseason.
A trade for a middle infielder appears almost inevitable if San Francisco is to become the team they want to be.
Reports on Bleachers Tim Anderson was mentioned by Zachary D. Rymer as a potential possibility to find offense from middle infield spots.
Following a challenging 2023 campaign, the Giants would be eager for Anderson to regain his form.
Making his second All-Star appearance in 2022, Anderson pounded.301/.339/.395 in that year. Despite only hitting six home runs that season, he was probably going to sign a big contract if he kept up his performance.
Although acquiring the former Silver Slugger winner would be an improvement, he does not ensure an offensive improvement.
Anderson’s 2023 season, in which he slashed.245/.286/.296—made that evident. He had the worst season possible last year, but maybe playing for a winning club could change things.
Without taking action, San Francisco cannot let this offense continue to fail. Every game matters, even in the early going, particularly in the competitive National League West. With the way their offense has played, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them continue to lose games. One game could be the difference between making the playoffs and missing them.
