Tight end Nate Roberts and safety Cody Haddad committed over the weekend, giving the Buckeyes the nation’s top recruiting class according to 247Sports team recruiting rankings. Despite having 13 against Notre Dame’s 19 pledges, Ohio State overtakes Notre Dame to take the top slot. If one were to rank teams according to average per commitment, Ohio State would also have the best class in the nation.

When one considers the remaining elite prospects who have a real chance of being in the Buckeyes’ 2025 recruiting class, there is even more positive news.

Tavien St. Clair is the Buckeyes’ class quarterback to start the offensive game. However, they have some excellent prospects and wish to sign two or perhaps three exceptional running backs. Right now, Ohio State leads both Bo Jackson and Jordan Davison in the Crystal Ball rankings. The official visits by Jeff Overton, who has the Buckeyes in his four main schools, are scheduled for the weekend of May 31 and by Byron Louis, for the weekend of June 14–16. Three running backs have also received scholarship offers from the Buckeyes. Though it would take some time, Carlos Locklyn has not given up on Marquise Davis and has made offers to Shekai Mills-Knight, Dierre Hill, Anthony Rogers, an Alabama pledge, and Carlos Locklyn when he was at Oregon.

It should come as no surprise that Brian Hartline has the Buckeyes lined up with some of the best wide receivers in the nation. For both Jaime Ffrench and Vernell Brownn III, Ohio State is the Crystal Ball leader. Official visits to Ohio State are also scheduled for Phillip Bell and Taz Williams Jr. Additionally, as Bucknuts reported last week, Dakorien Moore, an Ohio State commitment, was unable to see the team this past weekend. However, he promptly rescheduled the visit for the weekend of April 27.
Nate Roberts, the Buckeyes’ top target at tight end, has committed to the team, and they may feel that having one tight end in the class is sufficient.

One of the best tackles in the nation, Carter Lowe, has committed to play offensive line for the Buckeyes. I’ve been saying for a while now that the Buckeyes are seeking quality over quantity in their 2025 recruiting class when it comes to the offensive line. There can be no more than three or four offensive linemen in this class. David Sanders Jr. or Avery Gach are two people Justin Frye would really like to have in the class. In their attempt to acquire Gach, the Buckeyes are putting up a fight against Michigan. Over the weekend, Ohio Stadium was home to two Ohio State targets: Jayvon McFadden and Douglas Utu.

The Buckeyes are off to a terrific start on defense thanks to the pledges of London Merritt and Zahir Mathis. If we include the Jack position, two more would probably be enough, and I believe Ohio State has a good chance with Justin Hill. Ohio State is a primary choice for Damien Shanklin, Mariyon Dye, and Javeon Campbell, all of whom have scheduled official trips there.

Trajen Odom and Kole Briehler, both defensive tackles, are scheduled to make official visits to Ohio State.

Tarvos Alford for the Will position and Eli Lee for the Mike position are committed to the Buckeyes at linebacker. For the Jack role, the aforementioned Hill is being considered for recruitment. Riley Pettijohn is highly desired by the staff, but it won’t be an easy sell.

Trey McNutt and Faheem Delane are players I also have “in” the class at this time, with two safeties committed. The Buckeyes are also a school that a number of other players, such as Jonah Williams, Messiah Delhomme, Kainoa Winston, and Jadyn Hudson, are very seriously considering.

Right now, this class is the best in the nation, and it’s exciting to consider who might still wind up joining the 13 existing members of the group.
