In less than two weeks, the NFL Draft will take place, and teams are searching for ways to improve their teams. The Las Vegas Raiders are one of those teams that really needs a makeover.
Since Ken Stabler’s days, the Raiders have spent ten years searching for a franchise quarterback that they can trust. With their current position holding the 13th pick in the first round on Thursday night, they will have to make an intriguing decision.
It is unlikely that the 13th pick will be sufficient to select one of the class’s second-tier quarterbacks, such as Michigan’s JJ McCarthy, UNC’s Drake Maye, or LSU’s Jayden Daniels. It puts them in a difficult situation.
The new general manager, Tom Telesco, and head coach Antonio Pierce, who took over as interim after Josh McDaniels was dismissed last season, are determined to find a solution at quarterback. After all, they play in the same division as Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes. thereabouts, they may try to acquire a quarterback by trading up from the 13th pick into the top seven or thereabouts.
However, that will be expensive, and they’ll probably have to compete with other teams in the bidding. Thus, they may grab.
Considering that Penix needs to have some mechanical problems fixed, Tayfur remarks that he believes that would be a stretch. However, there are speculations about that.
The age of Michael Penix Jr. is another major worry. By the time the season arrives, he will be 24 years old, so it’s reasonable to wonder if much more can be done to improve. Nevertheless, this year was a highly productive one for the former Indiana quarterback. He led Washington to the National Championship Game while throwing for 4,900 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Penix’s touch on intermediate and deep throws is maybe his strongest quality. He is skilled at using trajectory to efficiently layer throws.
They selected Aidan O’Connell in the fourth round of last year, and he is the starting pitcher right now. With 2218 throwing yards, 12 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions, he started ten games.
