Phillips’ Optimism… But First, a Reality Check
Edge defender Jaelan Phillips of the Miami Dolphins provides an upbeat update on his recuperation, but there are still unanswered questions. Over the weekend, Phillips gave supporters of the Dolphins everywhere some hopeful news, but what did it all mean in the grand scheme of things?

In an interview during the University of Miami spring game on ESPN Plus, Phillips gave an update on his recuperation from the torn Achilles injury that ended his 2023 season.

“It’s been going really well,” Phillips added. “I’m just going after it every day, and I’ll be back in good health forThough we can understand fans choosing to believe Option A, the key question here is whether Phillips meant to be healthy for the start of the 2024 season or at some point in the season. Given the typical recuperation period for an Achilles tendon injury and the fact that Phillips was hurt on Black Friday, Nov. 24, to be exact, being ready for the start of the regular season would be quite an accomplishment for him.

This is particularly true if Phillips meant to be back to 100%, or very nearly there, when he said that his back was “healthy.”

The Dolphins, who presently have a serious question mark at the edge defender position due to the serious late-season injuries that not just Phillips but also Bradley Chubb and Cameron Goode suffered in 2023, would undoubtedly benefit greatly from having Phillips return to his former self.
