Peter Bosz, the manager of PSV, addresses rumors Arne Slot might transfer to Liverpool from Feyenoord.
Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s recently recruited sporting director, and Feyenoord have been in “serious negotiations” lately, with Slot, 45, emerging as the front-runner to succeed Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside in the summer.
Feyenoord is reportedly holding out for a €10 million (£8.5 million) compensation payment from its head coach, who led the team to their first league championship in six years the previous season.
Xabi Alonso, a former midfielder for Liverpool, was previously thought to be Klopp’s top pick to succeed him. However, last month, the Spaniard committed his immediate future to Bayer Leverkusen, effectively eliminating him from the competition.
Before Ange Postecoglou moved to north London, Slot was strongly linked to Tottenham. It is rumored that Slot is keen to manage the Reds and is willing to move to Anfield “at all costs.”
With four games left, Feyenoord trails leaders PSV by nine points. The Dutchman will be motivated to complete the Eredivisie season on a high note, having led his team to KNVB Cup triumph with a victory against NEC Nijmegen over the weekend.
In response to questions about the rumors regarding Slot, Bosz stated that it would be “great” to see his fellow countryman take the next step and manage Liverpool before PSV’s trip to Heerenveen on Thursday night.
“It would be wonderful for Arne,” the head coach of PSV stated to reporters.
Naturally, Liverpool is a large club, so if everything goes well, that would be fantastic for him. It is well deserved by him.
Bosz dismissed the idea that, with PSV leading Feyenoord by nine points in the Dutch top division, Liverpool ought to be pursuing him rather than Slot.
