An ex-Orlando Pirates star has already been signed by a PSL opponent, just 24 hours after being released by the Soweto giants!
A former Orlando Pirates footballer has wasted little time in finding a new club after being released.
Makaringe was released by pirates. Makaringe spent five seasons with Pirates, signing from Martizburg United in 2019/20.
The Buccaneers signed him after he helped his team avoid relegation through the playoffs that season. During his five seasons at the club, he won a lot of silverware.
The midfielder won five championships, including three MTN8 crowns and two Nedbank Cup victories.
Makaringe’s playing time was significantly limited after making 28, 26, and 21 appearances in his first three seasons.
In his final two seasons with the Pirates, he appeared 15 and 10 times. It’s not surprising that he didn’t have many goals or assists throughout those seasons.
Last season, the player, who previously played for Bafana Bafana, was linked with a move away from the club.
Sekhukhune United, for example, was said to be following him closely.
In the end, he stayed at Pirates to finish out the rest of his contract with the Soweto Giants, but according to iDiski Times, Makaringe has already found a new home for next season, and it’s Cape Town City.
Has now signed for Cape Town City.

Makaringe will be reunited with coach Eric Tinkler at City, having previously worked with at United. It remains to be seen how much playing time and influence the 31-year-old will have in the Cape.
