The Washington Commanders manhandled the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, 42-14. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 26 of 30 passes (86.7 percent) after last week hitting on an NFL rookie record 91.1.

Through four games, Daniels has is completing 82.1 percent of his passes, breaking the previous record to start a season held by seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady (79.2). In that 2007 season, Brady led his New England Patriots to a 16-0 record and threw 50 touchdowns.

On Sunday, nine receivers caught passes for a total of 233 yards, with veteran receiver Terry McLaurin scoring the game-winning touchdown. We don’t expect Daniels to lead his team to the Super Bowl or lead the league in touchdowns, but we do believe he’s fairly excellent.

Daniels has only 19 incompletions and a quarterback rating of 107.4. The former No. 2 overall choice is paying instant rewards for the Commanders, who now lead the NFC East for the first time in four years.

Looking ahead, the game we are circling on the calendar is the Oct. 27 matchup with this year’s No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.

In the immediate future, Daniels & Co. will play the 1-3 Cleveland Browns followed by a trip to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.

The schedule in the second half of the season does get a little more difficult with two games each against the Cowboys and Eagles as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons.

Daniels continues to grow every week, and the confidence in and around him does too. This is going to be a tough group to contend with moving forward.
