On Saturday, Oklahoma obtained a commitment from four-star safety Omarion Robinson, extending its 2025 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-1, 171-pound defensive back joins the Sooners 2025 recruiting class as the 21st commitment overall and the ninth defensive player overall.
Robinson, who hails from Little Rock, chose Oklahoma over offers from home state Arkansas, Oregon and LSU. He is ranked as the No. 26 safety in the class and the No. 2 player in the state of Arkansas. The talented back-end defender has been on Oklahoma’s 2025 radar right from the beginning. OU extended a scholarship offer to him in January 2023.
Head coach Brent Venables and defensive backs coach Brandon Hall considered Robinson one of the Sooners primary defensive targets and on Saturday they completed the task. Robinson is one of four safeties in OU’s 2025 class.
Four-star prospects Marcus Wimberly and Trynae Washington, although Washington is listed as an athlete, and three-star safety prospect Courtland Guillory are the other three. Wimbery is also from Arkansas. The class also includes two cornerbacks: Trystan Haines and Maliek Hawkins, brother of OU freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins. Haines is rated a four-star prospect by the 247 Composite, and Hawkins is a three-star recruit.
Robinson is said to be fearless when playing physical, which is an essential quality for the safety position. He also possesses the flexibility and footwork to play several areas in the back end. He was chosen as the defensive back MVP at the Rivals camp for five-star recruits because of his exceptional play. He was chosen for the second team of the MaxPreps Freshman All-America.
